Arm liposuction, sometimes called arm lift (though incorrectly – it is a different type of procedure), is a procedure that allows to correct arm and shoulder shape by the means of excess fat extraction. Excess fullness of upper arm section often foils general bodyshape proportions and often causes psychological and physical discomfort, not to speak about difficulties with finding fiiting clothes. Due to anatomic and metabolic features of this area of the body, fat deposits there are often resistant to convntional slimming protocols like excercise and diet.
Arm liposuction is a subtype of brachioplasty focused on fat removal, while full brachioplasty (which is a proper arm lift) also addresses saggy skin and more profound shape correction.
There are two types of arm liposuction:
Vacuum liposuction of arm and shoulder area grants pronounced and stable results. After examination and lab-tests, which aim at surgery planning and contraindication exclusion, anaesthesia (general or local, depending on the exact case) is placed, then a small incision is made, through which the surgeon operates a a vacuum tube that evacuates excessive fat. The incision is sutured, and the whole procedure takes up to 60 minutes. Oftentimes, arm liposuction is paired with other cosmetic surgery procedures, like breast surgery, abdominoplasty, etc.
Primary effect is visible instantly, though it takes up to 6 months for the affected areas to fully stabilize and the final results to set in. Before/after photos are taken to ensure proper procedure result evaluation. Often arm liposuction helps fix hyperhydrosis – excessive sweating in the armpit area. Compliance to doctor’s recommendations post-surgery ensures that removed fat will not regenerate.
