Mastopexy Indications: how to choose the correct approach?

Modern aesthetic surgery offers a wide range of methods to restore and augment natural anatomical features of breasts. Our cosmetic surgery team keeps track of recent advances in the field, and constantly perfects their approach and adopts new protocols. Currently, we operata using such tecniques:

• Periareolar: using this method, the surgeon makes an incision along the upper contour of the areola, where it borders common epithelium. A crescent-shaped scar may form at the incision site.
• Circumareolar: The incision is made around the areola.
• Vertical: The incision is made around the areola and extends downwards. During this procedure, the surgeon removes excess tissue, may reposition the nipple, and corrects the shape and volume of mammary gland.
• T-shaped (anchor mammaplasty): This technique is the most complex and allows most radical modification, though it typically calls for longer rehabilitation period. An incision is made around the nipple, then extended downwards and along the inframammary fold.

The most common indication for breast lift is ptosis, also known as breast sagging. There are multiple contributory factors that may lead to development of such condition, including anatomical changes related to pregnancy and lactation, and aging. There are three degrees of breast ptosis:

• Mild;
• Moderate;
• Severe.
